Field and Laboratory Technician

The opportunity

We have a great position for a motivated and reliable Field and Laboratory Technician to support our technical team across laboratory testing and field investigation activities.

This role is suited to someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work and is keen to develop their technical skills within the geotechnical industry. You will work both independently and as part of a team, receiving training and guidance to undertake field and laboratory services safely, accurately and professionally.

What you’ll be doing

Laboratory Testing

• Assist with laboratory testing in accordance with procedures, safety requirements and relevant Australian and international standards.
• Develop knowledge of laboratory practices and operations.
• Complete quality assurance testing, maintain accurate records and report results.
• Keep laboratory areas and equipment clean, organised and safe.
• Work effectively both independently and as part of a team, managing tasks and time efficiently.

Field Testing

• Undertake training in field equipment and testing procedures.
• Assist with supervised field investigations, following directions and working safely and professionally.
• Complete field records and testing documentation accurately.
• Travel to project sites as required.

Quality Assurance

• Conduct laboratory and field quality assurance testing in accordance with relevant standards, procedures and codes of practice.
• Support consistent quality system application and promptly report issues, non-conformances or equipment concerns.

Health & Safety

• Comply with company HSE policies, procedures, SWMS and safe operating requirements.
• Complete all required training, inductions and health assessments.
• Hold a valid Construction Industry Card (CIC) and driver’s licence.
• Wear and maintain company-provided PPE.
• Work safely, report hazards and incidents promptly, and use equipment responsibly.
• Support environmentally sustainable work practices.
