Senior Occupational Therapist — Gippsland

The job is in Traralgon | Full-time or part-time | $85,000 – $115,000 + super | Start October

About:

  • Hallmark is hiring an Occupational Therapist who wants Gippsland as their patch. Boots on the ground in homes, in schools, in sheds and share houses and community halls, from the Latrobe Valley out to the Lakes.

  • You’ll be mentored directly by Associate Professor Kerrie Thomsen, our award-winning CEO and an OT who has spent 25+ years building this practice from the ground up in regional Victoria.
  • Not a name on an org chart. Not a quarterly check-in with someone three states away. Direct, regular, sit-down-and-work-the-case mentorship from a clinician who has seen every version of the hard ones and will teach you how to think, not just what to write.

We’re small enough to know your name and big enough to have your back OTs, PBS practitioners, exercise physiologists, play therapists, key worker practitioners, social workers, and allied health assistants who genuinely like each other.

Nobody eats lunch alone here (unless on the road). Nobody gets thrown a caseload and a "good luck."

And yes:

  • The coffee machine is great. This is not a Nespresso-pod situation. We take it seriously.
  • The Christmas party is fun. Ask anyone who’s been. We’re not going to explain it in a job ad.

We buy the gear. You do the work.

You will never be the therapist improvising an assessment because the equipment budget ran out in March.

  • Full equipment and tools of trade supplied.
  • A personal resource allowance so you can buy the specific things your caseload needs to thrive the assessment, the tool, the toy, the book, the thing that makes the session work.
  • Modern clinical software with AI-supported documentation, so your notes get done inside work hours.

Progression isn’t just available. It’s expected.

We have an actual, published pathway, and people move along it:

  • Leaders here are developed, not simply promoted. If you want to run a discipline one day, tell us in the interview. We’ll start building it into your plan in your first year not your fifth.

What a week actually looks like:

  • OT Assessments and home-based assessments.
  • Assistive Technology assessment, trial and prescription.
  • Home modifications, SIL and SDA housing recommendations
  • Paediatrics, autism and developmental assessment
  • Neuro rehab, falls prevention and healthy ageing
  • Capacity-building and group programs
  • Telehealth, so the long drives don’t own your calendar
  • Working alongside families, carers and support teams who’ll remember your name for years

Across NDIS, Support at Home (aged care), private clients, schools and early childhood, and community health.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor or Master’s of Occupational Therapy.
  • Current AHPRA registration or eligibility for registration (new grads, this means you).
  • Driver’s licence and your own vehicle; this is a community role.
  • Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening.
  • Curiosity, creative problem-solving, and a sense of humour that survives a wet Wednesday in Bairnsdale.
  • Australian working rights and/or visa.

The details:

Salary: $85,000 – $115,000 + super, commensurate with experience. Location: Gippsland — Traralgon & Bairnsdale hubs

Hours: Full-time or part-time. Four-day week, school hours and hybrid arrangements genuinely negotiable. Start October onwards — and we’ll wait for the right person
