At The Lost Dogs’ Home, we are a foundation in Victoria's animal welfare landscape, celebrated for our compassionate care of around 22,000 lost and abandoned dogs and cats every year. About the role

Reporting to the Government Relations and Advocacy Manager, this newly created role is responsible for creating high-quality content that brings The Lost Dogs’ Home work, impact and advocacy priorities to life across multiple channels.

Working closely with the Head of Communications & Public Affairs and Government Relations and Advocacy Manager, this role will develop compelling long-form website, video and media campaign content that strengthens LDH’s brand and reputation as a leading animal welfare organisation in Victoria.

You will create engaging stories and content which will range from heartwarming adoption and reclaim stories to stories about complex animal welfare and advocacy issues. Each story with the same goal to build support and understanding of the important work we do.

This is an exciting opportunity for a content and media professional to create genuine and impactful stories for a meaningful cause, which reunites lost pets with their families and helps to find new homes for others.

In addition to the above, you will:

• Identify, research and develop compelling animal and community stories from across the organisation.
• Create engaging long-form content for a variety of audiences and channels, including feature stories, case studies, articles and campaign content
• Manage the day-to-day publishing, maintenance and optimisation of content across TTLDH websites using WordPress.
• Apply SEO and digital content best practice to improve engagement and user experience.
• Work with the Digital Media Coordinator to adapt long-form stories and content assets for social and digital channels.
• Work collaboratively across the organisation to support campaigns, advocacy initiatives and major communications projects.
• Draft media releases, media pitches, talking points, Q&A, backgrounders, opinion pieces and spokesperson materials
• Develop reusable video and visual assets that can be adapted across website, media, stakeholder and social channels.

About you

You are a natural storyteller with exceptional writing and editing skills and a genuine desire to create meaningful stories for a great cause.

In addition, who will bring:

• A relevant tertiary qualification in communications, journalism, marketing, media, digital content or a related discipline.
• Experience in communications, journalism, content, marketing or media.
• Outstanding writing, editing and proofreading capability.
• Demonstrated experience managing website content using WordPress.
• Strong understanding of SEO, accessibility and content optimisation.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
• The ability to simplify complex information into clear, engaging public-facing content.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Experience using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite or similar design tools.
