Dietitian – Grade 3

Part time, 0.5EFT, fixed term from February 2027 - December 2027

The Role

This is a part time 0.5EFT(alt Wed, Thur, Fri - 38 hours per fortnight) fixed term role within the Nutrition and Food Services Department and the Complex Care Hub. Working as part of a job-share, you will be responsible for the provision of specialist high quality nutritional care to patients with high medical needs in a complex disability space. This role is predominately outpatient based and focuses on enteral feeding and tube weaning and works as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver quality care to some of the Royal Children's Hospital's most complex patients. The role also includes responsibility for a senior portfolio, the provision of clinical supervision and mentoring within the dietetic team, co-ordination and participation in quality activities, and student supervision and teaching. It may also include rotation on the weekend oncall roster.

What you’ll achieve

• Work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure patient care is integrated and effective
• Provide nutritional care to paediatric patients (inpatients and outpatients) and nutritional support with the Complex Care Hub
• Offer leadership in areas beyond clinical service including research, teaching, policy development to assist department development and maintenance of high quality services.
• Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including food service and formula room staff, to ensure patient and ward needs are addressed effectively

Classification for this position with range from AK1 – AK4 Grade 3 Year 1 to Grade 3 Year 4 ($106,386.80 - $123,905.60 pro-rata plus superannuation)

Your skills and experience

• Eligibility for full Membership of Dietitians Australia
• Eligibility for the Accredited Practising Dietitian Program
• Experience in clinical dietetics, minimum of 7 years, including sound background knowledge in paediatric complex disability, enteral nutrition and the NDIS.
• Professional dietetic performance at an advanced level. This may be demonstrated through the AdvPD credential or eligibility to meet the AdvPD credential criteria.

About Nutrition and Food Services

The Department of Nutrition and Food Services at The Royal Children's Hospital incorporates the clinical dietetic service, the Main Kitchen that caters for inpatient meals and the Central Formula Room that produces formula, enteral feeds and fortifies expressed breast milk to meet the nutritional needs of patients. The Department is also a registered NDIS provider.
