Description Position Title: HV Commissioning Electrician Reports To: Commissioning Supervisor / Electrical Superintendent Project: Decarb Infrastructure Roster: 2:1 Pay rate: $93.00 per hour Duration: 12+ months with likely extension Site: FMG Eliwana for a short period before moving to FMG Solomon Position Overview \n

The Commissioning Electrician is responsible for the installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of high-voltage electrical systems and equipment. This role ensures all work is completed in accordance with relevant safety standards, project specifications, and statutory regulations.

Key Responsibilities \n

    \n
  • Perform commissioning, functional testing, and energisation of HV systems (e.g., switchgear, transformers, protection relays, and control systems).
    • \n
  • Interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and test procedures.
    • \n
  • Conduct insulation resistance, continuity, polarity, and secondary injection tests.
    • \n
  • Test and fault-find LV systems.
    • \n
  • Commission control systems.
    • \n
  • Carry out instrument calibration.
    • \n
  • Ensure all work complies with AS/NZS 3000, AS 2067, and other applicable standards.
    • \n
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve electrical faults and non-conformances.
    • \n
  • Maintain accurate test records and commissioning documentation.
    • \n
  • Liaise with engineers, package managers, and OPS personnel to coordinate commissioning activities.
    • \n
  • Adhere to all site safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
    • \n

Skills & Qualifications \n

    \n
  • WA (or equivalent) Electrical Licence.
    • \n
  • HV Switching Operator certification
    • \n
  • Demonstrated experience in high-voltage installation and commissioning.
    • \n
  • Strong understanding of protection and control systems.
    • \n
  • High level of commitment to safety and compliance.
    • \n
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
    • \n
  • Ability to work independently and within a commissioning team.
    • \n
  • Current CPR/LVR and White Card.
    • \n
  • Valid driver's licence.
    • \n

Desirable Experience \n

    \n
  • Minimum 5 year’s Experience in mining, renewable energy, or high-voltage infrastructure, including AC and DC chargers.
    • \n
  • Proven experience preparing and executing High Voltage switching including preparation of switching programs
    • \n
  • Knowledge of SCADA and protection relay systems (e.g., SEL, Schneider, Siemens).
    • \n
  • Familiarity with commissioning documentation and pre-commissioning processes.
    • \n
  • Understanding of isolation and permitting systems.
    • \n
  • Knowledge of WA Mines Safety and Inspection Regulations and relevant HV Legislation
    • \n
