The Royal Hobart Hospital and Department of Health is seeking interest from suitably qualified applicants for a Staff Specialist – Rehabilitation Medicine vacancy. Rehabilitation physicians work within a multidisciplinary team environment to optimise patient function following an illness or injury.

The Role

The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the Royal Hobart Hospital encompasses a busy inpatient and outpatient service. Rehabilitation physicians work across multiple hospital sites to deliver inpatient care to patients with a wide range of medical conditions. The outpatient service provides opportunities for continuity in clinical practice with outpatient clinics across a range of specialist rehabilitation medicine areas.

Fixed term full time, day worker position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as you can join our team for a period of 6 months.

Specialist Medical Practitioners

Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1- Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $222,789 - $319,701 per annum, pro rata + 12% superannuation + access to salary packaging

Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $309,222 - $319,701 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award

In addition, the following allowances and benefit, calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

• Salary packaging options include a range of benefits like living expenses up to $9,010 and $2,650 in meals and entertainment every year
• Provision of a fully maintained private plated motor vehicle or motor vehicle allowance of $30,254 per annum, pro rata
• Subject to approval from the Private Patient Scheme Committee (PPS), 35% of base salary plus on-call, pro rata) of additional payment will be paid from (PPS). If not admitted to the PPS, a 35% in lieu of PPS of base salary will be paid
• Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $17,483 per annum, pro rata
• Travel and relocation assistance support is available
• Professional development and accelerated pathways.
• A range of leave entitlements, including study leave and Professional Development Support.
• Fitness Passport – You, and your family can access 40+ fitness facilities across Tasmania for just $14.50 per week per person, or $28.05 for a family.

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

• Holds specialist registration; or
• Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who is on the specialist pathway; or
• Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who has a recognised overseas specialist qualification and is assessed as having sufficient experience in the speciality.
