Are you an experienced HR Business Partner who can hit the ground running, quickly build trusted relationships and confidently manage the day-to-day realities of a busy People & Culture function?

Ronald McDonald House Victoria & Tasmania is looking for an experienced HR Business Partner to join us for a three-month fixed-term contract, supporting the organisation through a period of transition within our People & Culture function.

This isn't a role that needs someone to come in and redesign everything.

We need a capable, pragmatic and experienced HR generalist who can quickly understand our organisation, take a comprehensive handover from our outgoing Head of People & Culture and provide continuity, sound advice and a steady pair of hands while we recruit and transition to our next P&C leader.

About the role

Partnering with our leaders and people managers, you'll provide hands-on HR support and advice across all areas of the organisation.

You'll inherit established P&C frameworks, systems and processes to ensure our people, managers and organisational priorities continue to be well supported throughout the transition.

There will be plenty of variety – from employee relations and recruitment through to performance, onboarding, engagement, policies, compliance, systems and supporting our leaders with everyday people matters.

What you'll be doing

Provide practical and trusted HR advice and support to people managers and leaders.

Manage day-to-day employee relations matters, including performance, conduct, probation and workplace issues.

Support recruitment, onboarding and employee lifecycle activities as required.

Provide advice on employment conditions, policies, the Fair Work Act, Awards and our enterprise agreement.

Support existing engagement, performance, learning and P&C initiatives already underway.

Maintain key P&C processes, documentation, compliance and employee records.

Work with our key stakeholders to ensure BAU activities continue smoothly.

What we're looking for

This role will suit an experienced HR Business Partner, Senior HR Advisor or P&C Business Partner who enjoys a broad generalist remit and doesn't need a lot of structure around them to get things done.

You’ll ideally bring:

Strong generalist HR / People & Culture experience, ideally at HRBP or Senior Advisor level.

Sound employee relations experience and confidence independently managing people matters.

Good working knowledge of Australian employment legislation, Modern Awards and/or enterprise agreements.

Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding, performance and employee lifecycle processes.

Confidence partnering with senior leaders and coaching people managers.

Strong judgement and the ability to manage sensitive and confidential matters appropriately.

A practical, organised and solutions-focused approach.

The ability to quickly understand an organisation, prioritise and get up to speed.

Experience in the not-for-profit, community, health or human services sector would be advantageous but isn't essential.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is calm, capable and approachable – someone our leaders and employees can trust, who is comfortable picking up an established portfolio and keeping things moving.
