The team

Working within a collaborative multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate will contribute specialist expertise to the ongoing development of ADHD services while helping strengthen connections between primary and specialist care. The team will also include a specialist paediatrician and an ADHD Clinical Nurse Consultant. The role offers the opportunity to make a visible and lasting difference to the health and wellbeing of communities across Northern Tasmania through direct patient care and service improvement initiatives.

Offered at 22 hours per fortnight, this position provides flexibility for a portfolio career, enabling the successful candidate to maintain community practice and other professional interests while contributing to a growing specialist service. Funding is secured for the full term of the appointment through to 30 June 2028, but shorter terms would be considered as would fractional appointments.

GPs with a Special Interest function as part of a specialty outpatient team, providing consultation, patient review and other agreed clinical activities within their scope of practice. The role supports the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care while contributing to innovative models that improve access to specialist services.

About the successful candidate

Applicants will bring a strong commitment to improving patient outcomes and a collaborative approach to healthcare delivery, together with:

• Current registration and eligibility to practise in accordance with the role requirements.
• Recent and ongoing experience in community general practice.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary clinical teams and build positive relationships with patients and healthcare colleagues.
• An interest in ADHD care and the ability to contribute to the ongoing development of contemporary, patient-centred outpatient services.

Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1- Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $222,789 - $319,701 per annum, pro rata + 12% superannuation + access to salary packaging

Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $309,222 - $319,701 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award.

In addition, the following allowances and benefit, calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

• Salary packaging options include a range of benefits like living expenses up to $9,010 and $2,650 in meals and entertainment every year.
• Motor vehicle allowance of $30,254 per annum, pro rata.
• Subject to approval from the Private Patient Scheme Committee (PPS), 35% of base salary plus on-call, (pro rata) of additional payment will be paid from (PPS). If not admitted to the PPS, 35% in lieu of PPS of base salary will be paid.
• Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $17,483 per annum, pro rata.
• Travel and relocation assistance support may be available.
• Professional development and accelerated pathways.
• A range of leave entitlements, including study leave and Professional Development Support.
• Fitness Passport – You, and your family can access 40+ fitness facilities across Tasmania for just $14.50 per week per person, or $28.05 for a family.

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

• Holds specialist registration; or
• Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who is on the specialist pathway; or
• Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who has a recognised overseas specialist qualification and is assessed as having sufficient experience in the speciality.
• Current Working with Children Registration.

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

• Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners; or
• Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine.
• Current and ongoing clinical practice in the community.
