It takes a special person to be a Care Worker and help the older members of our community to maintain their independence and wellbeing. We are looking for a person with at least 3 months experience in a similar professionalrole (Cert 3 in Individual Support - Aged Care or Ageing & Disability), to join the Silverchain team in Port Stephens and surrounding suburbs.

  • Don’t sweat the small stuff. Sometimes your client will be having a bad day or traffic delays you, but you know not to take this personally and can shake it off before your next client.

  • Are comfortable working independently and finding solutions to everyday problems, knowing when to ask your manager for help.
    • \n

In addition, you will need:

\n

    \n
  • A valid Australian Driver's Licence & your own insured, roadworthy vehicle
    • \n
  • Experience of 3 months or more in a similar professional role, with experience in with personal care, manual handling, hoist training and medications.
    • \n

\n

The role

\n

In the role of Care Worker you will be providing our aged care clients with home help services such as:

\n

    \n
  • General housekeeping and making beds
    • \n
  • Cleaning, mopping and vacuuming floors
    • \n
  • Washing, folding and ironing laundry
    • \n
  • Meal preparation and grocery shopping.
    • \n

\n

You will also be providing our aged care clients with personal care services such as:

\n

    \n
  • Getting clients out of bed, showered and dressed for the day
    • \n
  • Assisting clients to take their medications
    • \n
  • Assisting with mobility and therapy goals
    • \n
  • Providing complex care for customers with high care needs, such as dementia
    • \n
  • Providing social and emotional support
    • \n
  • Providing the client with transport to lifestyle activities or appointments
    • \n
  • Helping the family carer to have a break or an opportunity to do other things.
    • \n
