Job description

Ausenco is a fast-growing company with big ideas. We redefine what’s possible in some of the world’s most complex projects and toughest environments. Delivering innovative, value-add consulting, project delivery, asset operations and maintenance solutions is what we do. From 21 offices in 9 countries, with projects in over 80 locations worldwide, we create sustainable outcomes for our people, clients and communities.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Contracts Administrator to support the effective delivery of project contract and commercial activities across both pre-contract and post-contract phases. Working closely with the Project Manager, Contracts Manager, Construction Managers, engineers, and project delivery teams, you will play a key role in administering multiple contract packages, supporting tendering and procurement activities, and managing contractor commercial obligations throughout project execution.

This role is ideally suited to a candidate with significant experience working in a Design & Construct (D&C), Construction Management (CM), EPCM, or major project delivery environment, where multiple subcontractors and work packages are managed concurrently to achieve project outcomes.

About the Role

  • Prepare, administer, and manage multiple contract packages across pre- and post-contract phases.
  • Draft RFT and RFP documentation and review tender pack documents.
  • Facilitate contractor prequalification and pre-tender compliance activities.
  • Assist with Bill of Quantities (BOQ) establishment and package development.
  • Maintain contract schedules, tenderer registers, package registers, and commercial tracking tools.
  • Set up contract folders and support subcontract progress claims administration.
  • Prepare and assess subcontract variations, progress claims, payment schedules, and commercial documentation.
  • Update variation registers and ensure accurate contract data, reporting, and forecasting.
  • Monitor and manage contractor compliance requirements including insurances, mobilisation plans, management plans, licences, and statutory obligations.
  • Support subcontract and supplier negotiations and contribute to commercial decision-making.
  • Contribute to scopes of work, contract conditions, package execution strategies, and assist with contract dispute resolution.
  • Work closely with construction, engineering, and project delivery teams to monitor contractor performance and support project milestones.
  • Provide monthly contractual reporting updates and ongoing commercial support to project leadership.
  • Liaise with document control to ensure accurate record keeping and data integrity across all contract packages.

About You

  • 10-15 years' experience in Contracts Administration, Contract Management, Commercial Management, or Project Delivery within major construction, mining, resources, energy, or infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated experience working within a Design & Construct (D&C), Construction Management (CM), EPCM, or similar project delivery environment.
  • Proven experience managing multiple concurrent subcontract and supplier packages through procurement, execution, administration, and close-out phases.
  • Strong contractor management experience, including contractor engagement, performance monitoring, commercial administration, compliance, variations, claims, and close-out activities.
  • Experience working directly with Construction Managers, Project Managers, site leadership teams, and contractors during project execution.
  • Demonstrated experience administering subcontractor progress claims, payment schedules, variations, extension of time claims, and commercial correspondence.
  • Exposure to tender preparation, bid evaluation, contract award processes, and commercial negotiations.
  • Practical understanding of construction methodologies, contractor interfaces, package management, and project delivery requirements.
  • Experience managing both head contracts and subcontracts within large-scale project environments will be highly regarded.
  • Tertiary qualification in Business, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Commerce, or a related discipline.
  • Quantity Surveying (QS) background desirable but not essential.
  • Construction White Card required.
  • Strong commercial acumen with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work packages simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with contractors, suppliers, clients, and project stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across commercial, construction, engineering, and project delivery teams.
