Your opportunity
\n As a Wellbeing Support Worker, you'll support residents through their recovery journey by facilitating daily activities, promoting wellbeing, encouraging independence and helping create a safe, positive and recovery-focused environment.

\n

Join the team at Djindigal (Healing Place), Mission Australia's residential Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) rehabilitation service located near Mareeba. Djindigal provides a safe and supportive environment where adults can address substance use concerns, build life skills and continue their recovery journey.

\n

Working as part of a small and dedicated team, you'll play an important role in creating a positive, recovery-focused environment where people feel supported, respected and empowered to achieve their goals.

\n

We're seeking people who bring a strong understanding of Alcohol and Other Drug recovery and are passionate about supporting people to make meaningful and lasting change.

\n

This role operates across a 7-day rotating roster, offering a mix of day (9:00 am – 5:00 pm), afternoon (12:00 pm – 8:00 pm) and occasional sleepover shifts (10:00 pm – 6:00 am).

\n

Your key responsibilities will be to

\n

\n
• Support residents through daily wellbeing, recreational and life skills activities.
\n
• Facilitate group activities and encourage engagement in therapeutic and recovery-focused programs.
\n
• Provide practical support, coaching and encouragement to help residents achieve their recovery goals.
\n
• Respond to challenging situations using trauma-informed practice, effective communication and de‐escalation skills.
\n
• Build positive, professional relationships with residents while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
\n
• Help maintain a safe, welcoming and supportive residential environment that promotes recovery and wellbeing
\n

Requirements for success

\n

\n
• Experience supporting people affected by Alcohol and Other Drug use is essential.
\n
• Demonstrated skills in de‐escalation, conflict resolution and supporting people experiencing complex behaviours.
\n
• Strong understanding of person-centred, trauma-informed and recovery-oriented practice.
\n
• Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement and build positive therapeutic relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
\n
• Current First Aid and CPR Certificate, or willingness to obtain prior to commencement
\n
• Current Driver's Licence with no restrictions
\n

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
