About the role

The Manager Community leads the development, implementation, and evaluation of community engagement and education initiatives that enable RACT's advocacy strategy, purpose pillars, and brand promise. This role bridges community needs with organisational objectives, creating impactful programs that drive positive social outcomes while strengthening brand presence, stakeholder relationships, community engagement and contributes to our vision of creating a valued relationship with all Tasmanians.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and manage RACT's Community Engagement Framework, establishing a consistent, evidence-based and best-practice approach to how RACT listens to, engages with and partners with communities across Tasmania.
• Lead RACT's community engagement strategy and program portfolio, translating organisational purpose, strategy, advocacy priorities and community needs into meaningful initiatives and measurable outcomes.
• Design and deliver contemporary community programs that respond to identified social and community needs and create demonstrable value for members and Tasmanians.
• Develop and lead partnership models that bring together community, government and industry, using tripartite and collective-impact approaches to address issues where greater outcomes can be achieved through shared action.
• Identify emerging community issues, needs and opportunities through research, data, community insights and direct engagement, and translate these into recommendations, programs and partnerships.
• Establish clear social impact objectives, measures and evaluation frameworks, demonstrating the effectiveness, reach and longer‑term impact of RACT's community investment.
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with community organisations, educational institutions, government, industry and other partners to extend RACT's reach and collective impact.
• Lead the development and delivery of major community engagement initiatives, activations and events as mechanisms for engagement and impact.
• Ensure the voice and lived experience of members and communities is captured through community engagement and used to inform organisational strategy, advocacy, service design and decision‑making.
• Lead and develop the Community Engagement team, building capability in contemporary engagement practice, program design, partnership development and impact measurement.
• Lead the development of accessible educational resources, engagement tools and community‑facing content that support RACT’s community objectives.
• Identify, establish and manage strategic partnerships that increase capability, reach, participation and social impact.

About you

• Hold a relevant tertiary qualification with at least 8 or more years of experience in community engagement, program management or related fields.
• Hold a current Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP) and driver licence.
• Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams.
• Proven track record of developing and implementing successful community programs aligned with organisational strategy.
• Experience in partnership development and stakeholder management across diverse communities.
• Strong understanding of advocacy, and community engagement methodologies.
• Experience with leveraging relationships with schools, State Government Departments and other Automobile Clubs to assist the business achieve community goals.
• Strong alignment with RACT's values and behaviours, with a demonstrated ability to contribute positively to team culture and collaboration.
