Where You'll Make an Impact \n

DASA is seeking a full-time Assessment Worker to join its Assessment Team, based at Head Office in Alice Springs and reporting to the Assessment Coordinator.

\n

This role is central to how people first connect with DASA's programs. You will conduct assessments for all DASA services, manage the intake process, and coordinate resident payments — ensuring individuals are supported with dignity and efficiency from their very first contact with the organisation.

You'll work closely with referral agencies, Case Managers, Service Managers and the Therapeutic Lead, helping ensure every client's unique needs are identified and met in a way that is culturally safe and person-centred.

A Day in the Life \n

\n
• Conduct culturally safe assessments, both in person and by phone, using DASA's approved tools and processes
\n
• Manage intake email inboxes and respond to referrals within two business days
\n
• Provide solution-focused brief interventions as part of the assessment process
\n
• Create and maintain accurate client files on the Mimaso database
\n
• Coordinate Centrelink enrolments for residents, ensuring sign-up within 24–48 hours of program admission
\n
• Monitor resident payment obligations and maintain the debtors list, reporting variations to Case Managers and Finance
\n
• Manage the referral waitlist and keep referrers updated on outcomes
\n
• Build and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with colleagues and external agencies

Could This Be You? \n

You'll bring experience conducting assessments or intake processes in a similar field, along with exceptional communication skills and the ability to work confidently with a diverse range of clients and colleagues. You're comfortable working unsupervised, highly organised, and committed to maintaining absolute confidentiality in all matters.

Candidates with the following will be highly regarded:

• Cert IV in Community Services (Alcohol and Other Drugs)
\n
• Familiarity with screening and assessment tools
\n
• Experience with the Mimaso client database or similar systems
\n

You'll also need:

\n
• A current and valid Australian Driver's Licence
\n
• A current First Aid Certificate
\n
• The ability to obtain a National Police Clearance/Criminal History Check
\n
• The ability to obtain a Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card) NT
\n
• An understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people in Central Australia and the broader Northern Territory
\n
• The ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people
