The opportunity

The City of Mandurah is an important provider of recreationaland support opportunities for youth in Mandurah. Together with ourcommunity partners we aim to engage and support young people aged11 – 25 through a diverse range of programs, activities and events,delivered at the Billy Dower Youth Centre and off site at otherlocations. Our Youth Development Team is looking for a passionate andskilled person to become part of our fantastic team to deliverprograms, activities and events for young people.

To be successful in this role, you will:

• Be committed to achieving the best possible outcomes foryoung people
• Enjoy working in a team, be able to build strongrelationships, be open to the opinions of others
• Have a welcoming and engaging manner when dealing withyoung people, their guardians and our community
• Be able to “think outside the box” and be flexible in thedelivery of services to meet our community’s, and youngpeople’s, evolving expectations
• Have the ability to work outside of office hours on aregular basis
• Have progress towards, or have obtained, a qualification inyouth work, social work or similar discipline
• A strong ability to relate to a diverse range of youngpeople
• Experience working with young people
• An understanding of Aboriginal culture and experiencementoring Aboriginal youth (Desirable)
• Skills and experience in skate, music, art or otherspecific youth sub-cultures (Desirable)
• Experience in social media planning within anorganisational context (Desirable)
• Administrative and program planning skills including theability to navigate various software systems as a requirementof Local Government
• An approved Working with Children Card / Current NationalPolice Clearance (less than 3 months)
• Current Drivers Licence

• *The salary for this role commences at step 1, withpotential for movement within the range based on demonstratedskills and experience. Incremental progression typically occursat the conclusion of each 12-month period, in accordance withthe Industrial Agreement.
