The Lead Integration Engineer (Student) is a senior role within the Student and Research (StARs) Domain accountable for leading the design, delivery and operation of enterprise class integration service and leadership for the Student Sub-Domain. The roleis responsible forthe data and technical architecture, design, delivery, and lifecycle management of complex integration solutions, primarilyleveragingestablished technologies and platforms such as AWS,AzureandPeopleSoft Integration Broker. The Lead Integration Engineer has a leading role in the research,analysisand adoption of emerging technologies and platforms to support future integration needs. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the role acts as the authoritative subject-matter expert for integration, shaping strategy, setting standards, mentoring staff, and ensuring secure, scalable, and reliable student data exchange across enterprise, cloud, and third-party systems. The roledemonstratesend-to-end ownership of the Student Integrations services and platforms, influencing long-term architectural direction and enabling UNSW’s technology strategy. The Lead has responsibility for a team of employees, contractors and vendors who deliver the StudentSub-Domainintegration services. The position reports to the Head of Student Solutions.

Specific accountabilities for this role include: \n

\n
• Provide enterprise-level leadership for data and integration architecture across the Student Sub-Domainsuiteof services and products.
\n
• Manage and govern data and integration standards, patterns, and best practices aligned to UNSW enterprise architecture and integration strategies for the subdomain.
\n
• Act as the senior technical authority and escalation point for complex integration, performance, and security issues.
\n
• Lead the design and delivery ofhighly complex, mission-critical integration solutions for the subdomain.
\n
• Ensure integration solutions meet performance, scalability, availability, and security requirements.
\n
• Review vendor integration designs and technical proposals to ensure they meet UNSW standards and business needs.
\n
• Monitor the ongoing performance and operation of integrations to ensure theyremainefficient and fit for purpose.
\n
• As part of the lifecycle management of our integration solutions, develop plans to evolve legacy integrations to more mature architectures and platforms,reducetechnical debt andleadingto greater consistency across all our integration services.
\n
• Partner with cloud, infrastructure, security, integration, architecture, and other teams to implementappropriatesolutions,monitoring, and security controls.
\n
• Oversee the development and maintenance of high-quality documentation, standards, roadmaps, and operational runbooks.
\n
• Work in close partnership with senior stakeholders, functional leads, architects, central integration team, and vendors to define integration requirements and outcomes.
\n
• Providetechnical leadership and expert advice on integration strategy, risk, and technology direction.
\n
• Influence architectural and delivery decisions beyondownteam, contributing to enterprise technology roadmaps.
\n
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and coaching to the team.
\n
• Drive feedback loops and retrospectives across teams to refine processes, remove barriers, and enhance delivery performance.
\n
• Align with and activelydemonstratethe Code of Conduct and Values and ensure hazards and risks psychosocial and physical areidentifiedand controlled for tasks, projects, and activities that pose a health and safety risk within your area of responsibility.

Who you are: \n

\n
• Tertiary qualification in Information Technology (or equivalent), withdemonstratedsuccess managing complex integration and applications in large, diverseorganisations.
\n
• Proven advanced experience leading the delivery and operation of enterprise-scale integration services.
\n
• Experience integrating large ERPs (preferably PeopleSoft), CRMs (preferably Dynamics 365) with SaaS and cloud-native integration platforms.
\n
• Deep knowledge of Student Information Systems and their associated integration frameworks and standards.
\n
• Strong understanding of typical data sets for key business processes across the entire student academic lifecycle
\n
• Demonstrated experience with the design and development of API-based and event-drive integration architectures.
\n
• Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation.
\n
• Relevant cloud certifications (AWS or Azure)
\n
• Experienceoperatingwithin large, federated, or higher educationorganisations.
\n
• Expert knowledge ofintegrationsecurity and hybrid architectures.
\n
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical initiatives with minimal supervision.
\n
• Demonstrated ability to build and manage high performing teams.
\n
• An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims,objectivesand values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
