Bridge road school is located in the inner city of Sydney, in the Iron Cove Network. Currently Bridge Road School supports students from Yowie Bay to Birchgrove and from Padstow to Coogee. Bridge Road School was established to support K-6 students with an emotional disturbance. The School offers an intensive, specialised behavioural intervention program for young children with mental health, mild autism and challenging behaviour.

There is a maximum of 42 students enrolled within 6 classes. There is a maximum of seven students per class with one teacher and one SLSO per class, at all times. Approx. 40% of the current cohort are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students.

Selection Criteria

• Approval to teach students in K-6 with emotional disturbances, behaviour difficulties and autism
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills to work effectively with families, a small staff, and external support agencies
• Ability to design and implement inclusive, personalised programs to accommodate diverse learners, and strong trauma-informed practices and de‑escalation strategies
• Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the NSW Department of Education Aboriginal Education Policy

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

Until the outcome of any such determination is confirmed, your salary offer will remain at Step 1 then be updated at a later date (typically a 1–2 week processing time post receipt of the form). Special Notes

This is an above centrally identified permanent position established through school funds. The successful candidate’s continued appointment to this position will be subject to the continuity of funding, the ongoing requirement of the position and the educational needs of the school.

Should the funding or the requirement for the position cease, the teacher will receive nominated transfer status; please refer to the Staffing Procedure for the Teaching Service in NSW Public Schools for additional information. When accepting the position, the successful applicant will be indicating their acceptance of the terms and conditions attached to this appointment.
