Principal (Level 10) - Tagai State College

We are seeking an experienced and passionate school leader for the role of College Principal at Tagai State College.

Tagai State College is comprised of 17 campuses and an Executive Office. These 18 campuses located throughout the 48,000 square kilometres of the Torres Strait Islands in remote Far North Queensland.

About The Department Of Education

Tagai State College is an identified school participating in the Department of Education (DoE) Partnership Initiative (PI). Schools in communities that have a high degree of complexity and vulnerability receive prioritised support and resourcing and act as champions for the communities they serve as part of PI.

The College Principal leads the college Executive team. Collectively, the Executive lead strategic college-wide portfolio areas, such as campus supervision, teaching and learning, student support services, infrastructure, sport, workforce strategy, governance and business services. The Executive set the strategic direction for the college in consultation with the Torres Strait Islanders' Regional Education Council (TSIREC), communities and the Department of Education, to improve learning for all students.

At each campus, a Head of Campus, equivalent to a Principal, leads the delivery of Kindergarten to Year 6 or Year 7 to 12 education. Heads of Campus report to a campus supervisor and are ultimately accountable to the Executive Principal.

The College is located in the Torres Strait and the Executive is based on Thursday Island. All Tagai State College campuses are discrete Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Thursday Island is located about 39 kilometres north of Cape York Peninsula.
