Data & AI | Director

As a Director within PwC Australia’s Data & AI practice, you will help clients shape and deliver their most important data and AI transformations. You will combine strong consulting and client engagement experience with technical understanding to advise senior stakeholders, shape solutions and lead multidisciplinary teams across data, analytics and AI solutions. You will work primarily in with clients in the Energy and Mining sectors to originate opportunities and lead teams to design and deliver scalable, production-grade data and AI-led solutions supporting tangible business outcomes. You will also play an important role in growing PwC’s Data & AI capability – nurturing a network of relationships, developing our people, shaping market offerings, contributing to business development and building trusted relationships with our clients.

What you’ll do:

• Build your brand in the market and maintain strong trusted relationships with key stakeholders.
• Understand client needs and translate complex data concepts into business-friendly language for executives.
• Lead complex Data & AI consulting engagements from strategy and solution design through to engineering, implementation and production deployment.
• Advise senior technology and business leaders on Data & AI strategy, architecture, platforms, operating models and technology choices.
• Shape end-to-end Data & AI solutions spanning data engineering, modern data platforms, analytics, machine learning, Generative AI, agentic AI and enterprise integration.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams of architects, data engineers, AI engineers, data scientists and consultants, providing coaching, technical direction and delivery oversight.
• Lead business development by identifying opportunities, shaping propositions, leading pursuits and delivering proposals.
• Contribute to PwC’s market presence through thought leadership, executive discussions, demonstrations and industry engagement.

What we’re looking for (not all categories are necessary in one individual):

• Significant experience developing and maintaining trusted relationships with executives in the Energy and Mining sectors.
• Track record of identifying, shaping and converting consulting sales pursuits and a demonstrated ability to lead complex client engagements leveraging data and AI to deliver business outcomes.
• Broad technical awareness across Data & AI, with the ability to confidently guide and challenge architects, engineers and data scientists on solution design and implementation.
• Experience in leading the delivery of production-grade AI and machine learning solutions, including Generative AI and emerging agentic AI patterns.
• Strong understanding of modern data architecture and engineering, including data platforms, integration, data pipelines, analytics and the foundations required to support enterprise AI.
• Practical knowledge of modern cloud and Data & AI technology ecosystems such as Azure, AWS or GCP, and platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric or equivalent.
• Understanding of AI governance, Responsible AI, security and risk considerations associated with deploying AI within enterprise environments.
• Experience leading large, multidisciplinary teams and developing technical capability within high-performing consulting or engineering environments.
• Strong executive communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in clear business language.
• A commercial mindset, including experience shaping client opportunities, developing proposals, contributing to sales pursuits and growing trusted client relationships.
• Ability to connect technology decisions to business outcomes, helping clients move from experimentation to scalable, sustainable Data & AI adoption.
