Base Salary $132,533 - $157,381 p.a + 17% superannuation.

About the opportunity \n

This position is exempt under section 126 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, to conduct targeted recruitment programs for women. The University of Sydney is seeking applications for a Lecturer in Geology, Geophysics or Earth Science. The primary function of this position is to undertake research and teaching in the field of geology, geophysics or Earth science while also making a significant collaborative contribution to research using methodologies applied to economic geology. Fieldwork experience is essential and a research profile that demonstrates a potential connection towards external collaboration with industry and government is highly desirable. The position has responsibility for teaching courses in new and existing curricula at the undergraduate and postgraduate level under the broad theme of economic geology. The applicant will be expected to teach fundamental and advanced concepts in geology effectively in the classroom, field and laboratory, supported by digital-based approaches including virtual training and teaching.

Your key responsibilities will be to: \n

• Deliver high-quality teaching in geology, geophysics or Earth science and cross-disciplinary settings across undergraduate, honours and postgraduate levels, in classroom, field and laboratory environments.
\n
• Design and deliver engaging educational programs and learning experiences that respond to student needs and meet curriculum requirements.
\n
• Lead and undertake fieldwork, including the collection of field data to enrich teaching.
\n
• Build partnerships with industry, academic and government organisations to advance teaching, learning and research outcomes.
\n
• Develop a research profile appropriate to career stage and opportunity, evidenced through high-quality publications and success in attracting external research funding.
\n
• Contribute effectively to administrative and service activities across the School.
\n
• Foster a positive, inclusive and collaborative workplace culture.
\n
• Support the strategic direction of the School, Faculty and University.
\n

About you \n

\n
• PhD in geology, geophysics or Earth science.
\n
• Demonstrated expertise in economic geology, including the formation, distribution and exploration of geological resources.
\n
• Skills spanning geophysics, remote-sensing, GeoAI, and/or large data manipulation and analyses.
\n
• Holds a current driver's licence.
\n
