• Base salary range: Level B, $122,876 – $145,404 p.a. plus 17% superannuation.

About the area \n

The School of Social Sciences offers a vibrant teaching and research environment spanning social and environmental studies. Within the School, Media and Communication is a dynamic discipline with strengths in digital media, journalism, media production, storytelling, strategic communication and community engagement.

\n

The discipline is committed to advancing innovative teaching, impactful research and meaningful partnerships with communities, industry and professional organisations. This role will play a critical part in strengthening Indigenous-led perspectives across teaching, research and public engagement while contributing to the University's commitment to Indigenous knowledge, excellence and self-determination.

About the opportunity \n

\n
• Design and deliver high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate teaching that centres Indigenous perspectives on media representation, storytelling, communication ethics and public communication.
\n
• Develop an impactful research profile in Indigenous Media and Communication, producing high-quality publications, building collaborative partnerships, securing research funding and contributing to research excellence.
\n
• Lead and contribute to curriculum innovation across areas such as digital media, journalism, media production, documentary, audio content production, strategic communication, community engagement and Indigenous media practice.
\n

About you \n

\n
• PhD, or substantial progress towards a PhD, in Media and Communication or a related discipline, or equivalent professional qualifications and expertise.
\n
• Demonstrated ability to deliver engaging, inclusive and innovative teaching, curriculum design and assessment in higher education.
\n
• Emerging or established research track record evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and a demonstrated capacity to build a competitive research program.
\n
• Experience developing partnerships and engaging with communities, industry, government or professional networks to generate meaningful research, education or public impact.
\n
• Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, with a commitment to Indigenous knowledge, equity, inclusion, student success and collegial contribution within a university environment.
