Accessible City Coordinator

Salary range: $104,083 to $119,236 per annum + 13.5% superannuation.

About the role

This role contributes to the success of the City by overseeing and implementing the strategic direction of the Equal Access Action Plan and supporting the organisation to respond effectively to key social issues relating to access and disability. The role works across Council to provide expert advice, deliver programs, and promote awareness of accessibility requirements across information, facilities, buildings, events and activities.

Role accountabilities include:

• Coordinating and leading Council's strategic approach to access and disability, ensuring equitable access to services, facilities, programs and events.
• Building strong partnerships with community groups, service providers, businesses, government agencies and internal stakeholders to advance community inclusion objectives.
• Overseeing implementation of the Equal Access Action Plan in collaboration with the Access Advisory Committee and the broader community.
• Providing expert advice and project support on access and disability initiatives, including preparing reports, strategies, policy papers and presentations.
• Acting as the key point of contact for access and disability matters across the organisation and community.
• Coordinating accessibility networks, programs and projects that encourage participation and inclusion.
• Supporting organisational awareness and capability in accessibility through collaboration and advocacy.
• Lead the delivery of the City's Hobart Respects All campaign both internally and externally.

You are passionate about creating inclusive communities and removing barriers to participation. You bring experience in community development, engagement, accessibility, disability inclusion, or a related field, together with the ability to influence, collaborate and build meaningful relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.

You are a strong communicator who can translate complex ideas into clear and accessible information. You are confident managing projects and programs, balancing competing priorities, and delivering high-quality outcomes that make a genuine difference to the community.

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• Qualifications in Community Development, Communications, Project Management or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Demonstrated experience in community development or community engagement.
• Knowledge of accessibility and disability inclusion principles and their application in a community setting.
• Excellent written communication skills, including report writing and stakeholder correspondence.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management capabilities.
• Well-developed project and program management skills.
• A current Registration to Work with Vulnerable People and a current Driver Licence.
