About the Role

The Administration Officer provides effective administrative and office support services, ensuring all tasks undertaken are managed in a timely manner. This temporary part time opportunity runs from 21 September 2026 to 12 December 2027 and is based within the Medical Administration team at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital.

Key Accountabilities

• Provide quality customer service, ensuring a respectful and helpful response is provided to all face-to-face and telephone enquiries, facilitating timely access to people and services and supporting a positive opinion of the health service.
• Complete a range of operational, clerical and administrative tasks to support the smooth running of the service, including report production and drafting responses to correspondence, record keeping and management, booking services/appointments, managing postal and other correspondence, general filing/typing/copying, deliveries and pickups from other areas, and purchasing/stores management.
• Provide assistance with more complex tasks or projects and provide relief for other staff as required, to support efficiency and quality within the service and team.
• Support the manager and team with quality activities to ensure ongoing improvement in local processes.
• Make decisions and take initiative in relation to day to day operational matters, performing according to established work practices and procedures, working under general instruction and broad supervision.
• Investigate or evaluate legislation, regulations, instructions or procedural guidelines relevant to the tasks and responsibilities.
• National Police Check
• Class C Drivers Licence (preferred)

Selection Criteria

• Proven intermediate / advanced computer competency and strong keyboard skills with speed and accuracy, including high level experience with database systems.
• Proven experience working in a high workload and pressure area with a successful track record of best performance, as well as knowledge of clinical and corporate applications and work practices, and their relationship to other health care processes.
• Demonstrated ability and initiative to work both as part of a team and independently, supporting team members and management, with sound knowledge of administrative procedures in a health setting.
• Demonstrated strong customer focus and commitment to providing exceptional service to all clients, internal and external to the organisation.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including strong written and verbal English, and the ability to professionally liaise and work with stakeholders across all levels of the organisation using different modes of communication in a technical and business context.
• Demonstrated ability to organise meetings, take minutes and associated procedures.
