About The Role

\n

Concord Centre for Mental Health is committed to improving mental health for people and our communities by providing quality mental health services in partnership with consumers, families and service providers by providing quality healthcare, delivery of safe appropriate care, ensuring access to services, supporting our workforce, and working closely with the local community to manage the changing demand for services.

\n

The Walker Unit is a specialised child and adolescent mental health inpatient unit for young people aged 12-18 years with severe mental health disorders or illnesses requiring secure inpatient care due to continuing clinical risk and a longer length of hospitalisation than acute inpatient care. The Unit provides step-up care from tertiary acute child and adolescent mental health inpatient units and targets those young people who would otherwise have extended care in the acute inpatient environment where their care needs may be difficult to meet because of the intensive resourcing required.

The Walker Unit provides a rehabilitation-focused program that combines intensive therapeutic intervention, family work, education and community reintegration to support recovery from severe and persistent mental illness. The primary aim of the Unit is to work in partnership with young people and their family or carers to develop strategies to safely manage their mental health, resulting in a reduction or remission of the presenting symptoms and to facilitate successful transition back to community living.

The Senior Occupational Therapist will provide clinical leadership within the Occupational Therapy service provision including optimisation of patient/client care delivery, as well as supporting the mentoring and development of staff.

Ideal Candidate

\n

\n
• Bachelor or post graduate degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy and current registration with AHPRA, with experience at Level 2 or higher.
\n
• Advanced clinical knowledge, skill and significant clinical experience in the provision of Occupational Therapy.
\n
• Ability to independently problem solve, apply professional and ethical boundaries when working with complex situations as per of a multidisciplinary team.
\n
• Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including collaborative stakeholder consultation.
\n
• Holds a current NSW driver licence (P1 and P2 acceptable).
\n
