Assistant Food & Beverage Manager

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Food & Beverage Manager to join our team at Quality Hotel Robertson Gardens.

Reporting to the Food & Beverage Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day management of our restaurant, bar, room service, conferences, weddings, and events operations. As the second-in-charge of the department, you will lead service teams, ensure exceptional guest experiences, drive operational excellence, and assist in the commercial success of the Food & Beverage division.

This is a hands-on leadership role that combines floor supervision, team development, guest engagement, and operational coordination.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Service Delivery

• Lead daily Food & Beverage operations across the restaurant, bar, room service, and functions.
• Maintain exceptional service standards and guest satisfaction across all outlets.
• Act as the Food & Beverage Manager's representative in their absence.
• Coordinate service delivery between front and back of house teams.
• Resolve guest enquiries and complaints professionally and effectively.
• Monitor service quality and implement continuous improvements.

Functions & Events

• Assist in the planning and execution of conferences, weddings, private functions, and corporate events.
• Supervise event service to ensure seamless delivery and client satisfaction.
• Coordinate staffing, room setups, run sheets, and operational requirements for events.
• Build strong relationships with clients and guests to enhance the event experience.

Team Leadership

• Lead, motivate, and supervise Food & Beverage team members across all service areas.
• Assist with recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance development.
• Foster a positive, professional, and collaborative team culture.
• Conduct shift briefings and provide ongoing coaching and support.

Financial & Administrative

• Support departmental revenue growth through upselling and promotional initiatives.
• Assist with rostering, labour management, and productivity targets.
• Monitor stock control, ordering, stocktakes, and inventory levels.
• Reconcile daily takings and ensure accurate POS and account charging procedures.
• Complete operational reports, shift handovers, and administrative tasks.

Compliance & Safety

• Ensure compliance with RSA requirements, food safety regulations, and workplace health and safety standards.
• Maintain all hotel and brand standards.
• Promote a safe working environment and ensure correct operational procedures are followed.

About You

• Previous experience in a Food & Beverage Supervisor, Duty Manager, or Assistant Manager position.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
• Experience within restaurant, bar, conference, wedding, and event operations.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of stock control, labour management, and venue operations.
• Current RSA Certificate (essential).
• Approved Manager Licence or willingness to obtain one (highly regarded).
• Experience with hotel POS and property management systems is advantageous.
• Available to work a flexible roster across 7 days, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
