What you’ll be doing

The Allied Health Assistant provides clinical and administrative support to the team in the delivery of allied health services to patients and clients, to facilitate the provision of high quality clinical care.

This position supports discharge planning to assist patients and their families with the process of leaving hospital and transitioning back to their home or other care setting.

This position is responsible for facilitating and enhancing communication between the patient, families, carers, clinical staff, out of hospital care services and primary care to improve the discharge experience for patients, carers and families.

Selection Criteria

• Current Certificate IV Allied Health Assistance and / or other qualification deemed equivalent by Southern NSW Local Health District.
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and under delegation of health professionals in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines and complete activities (including ability to work within scope of practice and seek assistance when required) as delegated by supervising Allied Health Professional/s.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, in particular the ability to interact effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
• Demonstrated computer literacy skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes.
• Current unrestricted drivers' licence and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires. This may involve driving long distances and overnight stays.
