Job Description

Shape the future of lending for Australia's Defence community

We're seeking an experienced Product Manager - Lending (Consumer Finance) to join us on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is an exciting opportunity to lead our personal loans and credit card portfolio, influence strategic product decisions and deliver meaningful outcomes for our members and the business.

Reporting to the Senior Product Manager - Lending, you'll be responsible for the end-to-end management of Defence Bank's consumer finance products, including personal loans and credit cards. You'll drive product performance, pricing, portfolio growth and product innovation while ensuring strong member outcomes and regulatory compliance.

Working across a broad range of stakeholders including Risk, Credit, Marketing, Distribution, Operations, Finance and Technology, you'll play a key role in shaping lending propositions that are competitive, sustainable and aligned to our strategic priorities.

Desired Skills and Experience

What You'll Be Doing

• Owning and managing our personal lending and credit card product portfolios
• Developing and delivering product strategies, roadmaps and growth initiatives
• Monitoring portfolio performance and identifying opportunities to improve profitability, member experience and market competitiveness
• Developing pricing recommendations and business cases to support strategic decisions
• Leading product enhancements, simplification initiatives and lifecycle management activities
• Using market, member and performance insights to inform decision‑making
• Managing compliance obligations including DDO, Responsible Lending and other regulatory requirements
• Identifying, managing and resolving product risk incidents and remediation actions in line with governance and regulatory expectations
• Partnering with internal teams and external providers to deliver product outcomes
• Acting as the subject matter expert for consumer finance across the organisation.

What You’ll Bring

You'll bring a strong background in consumer lending product management and a genuine passion for creating products that deliver both commercial success and positive customer outcomes.

You’ll ideally have:

• More than five years' experience in product management within financial services
• Demonstrated success managing lending products and portfolios
• Strong commercial acumen, including experience with pricing, portfolio performance and business case development
• Sound understanding of lending‑related regulatory frameworks, including Responsible Lending and Design & Distribution Obligations (DDO)
• Highly developed analytical, stakeholder management and problem‑solving skills
• Experience leading cross‑functional initiatives and influencing outcomes across multiple business areas
• Tertiary qualifications in business, commerce, economics, marketing or a related discipline.

Experience in credit policy, risk management, lending operations, product remediation or card products will be highly regarded.
