Join Liverpool Hospital's Palliative Care Consult Service as a Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 and make a meaningful difference by supporting patients, families and carers through compassionate, specialist palliative care across a large and complex hospital setting.

• Provide expert, person-centred palliative care and consultation services to patients across all wards of Liverpool Hospital, supporting the delivery of safe, compassionate and high-quality care.
• Collaborate closely with patients, families, carers and multidisciplinary teams to develop and coordinate care plans that address the complex needs of palliative care patients.
• Play a key role in supporting inpatient teams to optimise care planning, symptom management and care coordination for patients.
• Provide clinical leadership, mentorship and support to less experienced clinicians, helping to promote excellence in palliative care practice and patient outcomes.
• Work within a highly skilled and supportive consult team comprising Registered Nurses, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Clinical Nurse Consultants and Medical Officers, committed to delivering exceptional specialist palliative care.

You are a compassionate and experienced nurse who is passionate about delivering high-quality palliative care and supporting patients, families and carers through complex healthcare journeys. You thrive in an autonomous role, have exceptional attention to detail, and are committed to providing expert clinical advice that enhances patient outcomes across the hospital.

• Strong attention to detail and active listening skills, with the ability to identify and respond to the unique needs of patients, families and carers.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to effectively engage with patients, carers and multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated and responsive care.
• Confident working autonomously while managing a diverse and complex caseload across a large acute hospital setting.
• Experienced in providing specialist advice, consultation and support to clinical teams caring for patients with palliative care needs.
• A collaborative and approachable clinician who can build strong relationships and positively influence patient care and service delivery. Committed to delivering compassionate, person-centred care while supporting excellence in palliative care practice. Work a Monday to Friday day-shift roster as part of a dedicated specialist palliative care consult team.

Selection Criteria

To help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below.

• Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years’ experience working in the clinical area of the employees specified post-graduate qualification, or such other qualifications or equivalent experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation.
• Give a brief overview of what education training and clinically relevant experience you bring with you to the role?
• Can you describe your experience in providing complex, evidence-based nursing care, including how you use critical thinking to deliver safe, compassionate, high-quality, and culturally responsive care? Please include an example that demonstrates how you communicated and collaborated with patients, carers, and the multidisciplinary healthcare team to identify and respond to care needs.
