Family Support Worker Casual | Karratha, WA | SCHADS Award – Level 3

About the role \n

The Salvation Army’s Family Violence Stream is seeking a compassionate and motivated Family Support Worker to join the Karratha Women and Children’s Centre. KWCC provides crisis accommodation and case management support to women, children and young people experiencing family and domestic violence and other crises. This position offers a mix of day, afternoon and waking night shifts. You will support clients across different parts of the service. You will help create a safe, welcoming and empowering environment by supporting clients to work toward case plan goals. You will assist with daily operations and ensure the centre runs smoothly.

Responsibilities include phone and reception support, preparing units for new intakes, facilitating activities, maintaining accurate client records and providing practical assistance to women, children and young people accessing the service. This casual role pays in accordance with the SCHADS Level 3 Award.

How you will make an impact \n

• Providing a warm and responsive first point of contact for clients
\n
• Addressing immediate needs and supporting engagement with case planning
\n
• Assisting clients to access internal and external support services
\n
• Contributing to individual and group activities and ensuring clear communication across shifts
\n
• Identifying risks and escalating concerns to senior staff
\n
• Participating in team meetings, supervision, training and reflective practice
\n
• Supporting daily operations including preparing units, maintaining shared spaces, transporting clients and managing phone calls and visitors
\n
• Helping maintain a safe, organised and welcoming environment aligned with TSA values
\n

What you will bring \n

\n
• Experience in a community services setting
\n
• Qualification in Community Services or a related field (preferred but not essential)
\n
• Strong time management skills and the ability to work both autonomously and within a team
\n
• Confidence using computer systems and maintaining accurate records
\n
• Integrity, resilience and cultural awareness
\n
• Ability to build respectful and supportive relationships with clients
\n
• WA Driver's Licence
\n
• First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain
\n
• Working With Children Check or willingness to obtain
\n

• $40.49 - $43.42 hourly plus superannuation based on experience level and qualifications, exclusive of penalties, allowances and NFP salary packaging
