\nAbout the Role:\n
\nWe are recruiting on behalf of our client for a meticulous and experienced Carpenter with specialized expertise in fine cabinetmaking and custom joinery. This is a full-time, permanent position based in their modern Arundel workshop. The successful candidate will be integral to transforming architectural concepts into tangible, heirloom-quality installations. You will report directly to the Workshop Foreman and collaborate with a team of dedicated craftspeople and designers.\n

\nKey Duties & Responsibilities:\n
\nDesign Interpretation & Material Preparation:\n
\n• Accurately analyse and interpret detailed technical drawings, CAD designs, and shop plans for custom cabinetry, complex joinery, and freestanding furniture.\n
\n• Plan and sequence the workflow, meticulously selecting appropriate timber species, veneers, laminates, and composite materials to meet exact design specifications and project timelines.\n
\n
\nPrecision Machining & Fabrication:\n
\n• Expertly operate a range of hand tools, power tools, and advanced workshop machinery including panel saws, thicknessers, routers, and CNC equipment to cut, shape, and prepare components.\n
\n• Fabricate bespoke cabinets, shelving units, countertops, and architectural millwork with exceptional attention to detail, adhering to tolerances within 1mm variance.\n
\n
\nExpert Joinery & Component Assembly:\n
\n• Execute and implement advanced joinery techniques such as dovetail, mortise-and-tenon, and domino joinery to ensure both structural integrity and aesthetic appeal.\n
\n• Assemble components using specialized adhesives, fasteners, and clamping systems, guaranteeing seamless alignment, perfect squareness, and flawless integration of all parts.\n
\n
\nFinishing, Detailing & Hardware Application:\n
\n• Skillfully apply veneers, laminates, and edge-banding to achieve invisible seams and pristine surfaces.\n
\n• Perform multi-stage sanding, staining, sealing, and finishing processes to produce a superior final coat as per client specifications, including matte, satin, or gloss finishes.\n
\n• Precisely install and calibrate high-end hardware such as soft-close hinges, drawer runners, and custom handles to ensure flawless operation and functionality.\n
\n
\nQuality Assurance & Workshop Excellence:\n
\n• Conduct rigorous quality inspections of both raw materials and finished products, ensuring strict compliance with design intent, safety standards, and the company’s renowned quality benchmarks.\n
\n• Proactively identify and troubleshoot construction or fit issues, implementing effective corrective measures with a solutions-oriented mindset.\n
\n• Maintain a clean, safe, and highly organized workshop environment in line with 5S principles and all Work Health & Safety (WHS) regulations, including strict adherence to PPE protocols.\n
\n
\nSkills & Experience Required:\n
\nEssential Qualifications & Experience:\n
\n• A formal qualification such as a Certificate III in Cabinet Making or Carpentry is essential.\n
\n• A minimum of 2 years of proven post-apprenticeship experience within a high-end commercial joinery, cabinetmaking, or furniture manufacturing workshop.\n
\n• Demonstrable portfolio showcasing experience with solid timber, veneers, and engineered board products.\n
\n
\nTechnical Proficiencies:\n
\n• High competency in traditional and modern joinery methods, precision machining, and hand-finishing techniques.\n
\n• Proven experience safely operating and performing basic maintenance on workshop machinery, including CNC routers and panel saws.\n
\n
