Position Summary

Are you passionate about communication, digital engagement, and strengthening connections between a City of Gold Coast Councillor and the community?

We are seeking a proactive, organised and community-minded individual to deliver communication and engagement activities that support Councillor Dan Doran in Division 11.

In this role, you will develop engaging digital and social media content, coordinate targeted communication campaigns, and support the planning and delivery of divisional events and community engagement initiatives. Working under the direction of the Councillor, you will help ensure messaging is clear, timely, informative and aligned with Council standards, priorities and community expectations.

Your ability to build relationships, create compelling content and coordinate a range of activities will play a key role in connecting the Councillor with residents, businesses, community groups and stakeholders across the division, fostering meaningful conversations and strengthening local connections.

About Division 11

Division 11 is home to nearly 47,000 residents and covers approximately 22 square kilometres encompassing Robina, Varsity Lakes and part of Burleigh Waters. It has key commercial, residential and educational hubs, including Robina Town Centre, Health precincts, and Bond University.

About The Team

Based at the Robina Community Centre on San Antonio Court, Robina, a dynamic and collaborative team supports Councillor Doran in delivering divisional priorities and maintaining strong connections with the local community.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver communications, community engagement, and event coordination activities aligned to divisional priorities.
• Develop, coordinate, and manage communications across Divisional Office channels (including print newsletters, digital, and social media), ensuring clear, timely, and consistent messaging.
• Coordinate place-based community outreach, focused on capturing local insights and emerging issues.
• Monitor community feedback, trends, and sentiment to support stakeholder management and decision-making.
• Plan, scope and coordinate divisional events, community initiatives and projects, managing planning, scheduling, procurement, stakeholder engagement, communications, and collaboration across a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
• Integrate communications, engagement, and events to maximise community awareness and participation.

Skills And Experience

• Experience working within an elected representative environment, or supporting senior leaders in a complex organisation is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated experience in communications, marketing, community engagement or event coordination, with proficiency in using digital content creation and engagement tools such as Canva, CapCut, Campaign Monitor, SurveyMonkey or similar.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, engaging messages and adapt style as needed.
• Customer-centred approach to servicing internal and external customers and members of the community.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV or Diploma in Marketing and Communication; Digital or Social Media Marketing; or Event Management (desirable); or equivalent knowledge and experience.
• Engagement Institute Certificate of Engagement (desirable).
