Medical Edge Australia is seeking compassionate and professional Patient Transport Officers to join our growing Non-Emergency Patient Transport (NEPT) team.

This is an ideal opportunity for healthcare professionals who enjoy working directly with people, providing safe patient care and being part of a supportive operational team.

Working alongside another qualified crew member, you'll assist patients throughout their healthcare journey, ensuring they are transported safely, comfortably and with dignity between homes, hospitals, specialist appointments and healthcare facilities.

This is an 18 month full-time maximum term contract with the potential to transition into a permanent role. The role offers a fantastic opportunity to be part of a rapidly growing organisation, where your contributions will have a significant impact.

About the role

As a Patient Transport Officer, you'll play a key role in delivering safe and professional non‑emergency patient transport services.

You will assist with patient assessments, monitor patient wellbeing during transport and provide appropriate care within your scope of practice while maintaining a strong focus on safety, comfort and dignity.

Key responsibilities include:

Preparing patients for transport and assisting with transfers

Monitoring and recording patient observations

Providing ongoing care and support throughout transport

Communicating effectively with patients, families and healthcare providers

Operating transport vehicles and clinical equipment safely

Recognising changes in patient condition and responding appropriately

Completing clinical documentation and transport records accurately

Contributing to a positive and professional team environment

Maintaining high standards of patient care, confidentiality and professionalism

About you

We're looking for people who are passionate about patient care and enjoy working in a dynamic healthcare environment.

You’ll ideally be:

A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills

Professional and reliable

Comfortable working collaboratively within a two-person crew

Capable of remaining calm and focused in changing situations

Committed to maintaining patient dignity and privacy

Physically able to perform the patient handling requirements of the role

Hold a Full Drivers License

To be considered, you must hold one of the following:

Certificate IV in Healthcare

Diploma of Emergency Health Care

Be a third-year Paramedicine student

The following will be highly regarded:

Previous experience in Non‑Emergency Patient Transport

Experience in patient care, healthcare or emergency services environments

Experience working directly with patients in community, hospital or clinical settings

You will also possess an understanding of patient assessment, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, recognition of patient deterioration and the provision of safe patient care within your scope of practice.

Police Check obtained within three months of applying. Must note role as Patient Transport (at a minimum)

Proof of full immunisation history required for NEPT work including (but not limited to) Covid‑19, current flu vaccine and Hep B.
