Position Profile:

Provides a comprehensive electrical maintenance and repair service to hospitals, accommodation and associated health service sites.

This is a Permanent or Fixed Term Full Time appointment, with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency.

Area Profile:

WACHS Kimberley is the most northern health region of WACHS. The Kimberley region has approximately 200 Aboriginal communities, over 34 different Aboriginal language groups and 45 percent of the population are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. WACHS Kimberley consists of six hospitals, an inpatient mental health unit, three Community Directorates and a Corporate Office. WACHS Kimberley provides hospital, community health, public health, remote area health, community aged care, and mental health services across the region through a dedicated team of medical, nursing, Aboriginal health, allied health and support staff.

Suitability Criteria

• Possession of a WA ‘A’ Grade Electrical Workers Licence and understanding of electrical regulations, standards and legislation.
• Experience relevant to the position including knowledge of the maintenance requirements of specialist equipment (e.g. sterilisers, gas fired hot water systems, air conditioning and refrigeration plant, biomedical equipment and communication systems) or a willingness to learn.
• Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health and how it relates to electrical safety.
• Ability to direct own workload and work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team with sound problem solving, organisational and time management skills.
• Well-developed oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Current C Class drivers Licence and an ability and willingness to travel including overnight stays away from home.

Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, applicants found suitable for this position may be considered for other ‘similar’ vacancies within WACHS and/or the wider WA public sector.
