About the role

This position based at Nicholson Street Footscray, sits within the cohealth’s Homelessness Services Clusterwhichaims to improve the health, wellbeing, housing and social outcomes of people who use alcohol and other drugs and/or those experiencing homelessness in the Inner North-West of Melbourne.

The Homeless & Community Support: Group Engagement Worker is a specialised role that aims toprovide assistancein developing, delivering and evaluating social support activities and engagement to people who are living in inappropriate accommodation such as rooming houses, community and public accommodation and caravan parks.

• Establish and maintain links with other key local agencies, local community and provide secondary consultations as required
• Develop and implement client-directed, strengths based individual client care plans and service packages
• Work collaboratively with clients to conduct comprehensive assessments, identifying needs, aspirations, and goals of clients
• Link individuals into appropriate ongoing community services, including mental health services, social support services and health service

• A relevant tertiary qualification such as Social Work or equivalent experience in thehousing, mental health, disability, or welfare sectors
• Demonstrated experience in working with clients who have a history of homelessness and multiple and complex needs, as well as a sound understanding of the key issues affecting people experiencing homelessness
• Demonstrated experience in the development, delivery and evaluation of social support groups
• An understanding of the Social Determinates of Health and Trauma Informed CarePractices

All appointments are made subject to a satisfactory Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC), a Working with Children Check (WWCC), complete a Pre-Employment Declaration Form, evidence of legal rights to work in Australia, and evidence of vaccination.

Successful applicants will be required to provide evidence of immunisation assessment including Influenza within 12 weeks of commencement [B]. This is in accordance with the Victorian Minister of Health Mandatory Vaccination Orders and legislated requirement for influenza vaccination.
