We are seeking an experienced in-house Legal Counsel to join our national Legal & Commercial team. Reporting to the Chief Legal Counsel, you will enjoy a broad remit spanning legal advice, governance, risk, insurance, compliance, template management and provision of legal support for business-winning activities, working alongside our commercial and contract managers.

Whilst your competence will be defined by many things, as a guide, this role will suit a practitioner with minimum six (6) years of post-qualification experience (PQE).

About you

As an ideal applicant, you will be admitted to practice as an Australian lawyer and will hold an unrestricted current practising certificate in an Australian jurisdiction. You will have worked as an in-house lawyer in an industry such as manufacturing, defence, technology or similar and ideally have private practice training. What will set you apart will be your:

• Demonstrated capability in establishing and maintaining legal and compliance frameworks, risk assessment and governance
• Proven experience in providing practical legal advice in support of business winning activities such as responding to tenders and partnering, negotiating and managing contractual arrangements
• Excellent technical, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management abilities

Due to the nature of our business, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain a Defence security clearance.
