The Youth Primary Health in Detention (YPHiD) Project Team is delivering a significant reform initiative in response to Recommendation 12.21 of the Commission of Inquiry. The YPHiD Project Team is strengthening primary healthcare services for young people in detention by ensuring all young people receive timely and comprehensive health assessments on admission, have access to 24-hour healthcare services, and are actively involved in decisions about their health.

The YPHiD Project Team will design and implement a contemporary, evidence-based Model of Care that delivers health services equivalent to community standards. The model will be informed by research, stakeholder engagement, clinical best practice, and alignment with broader youth justice reforms, including the transition to the new youth detention facility.

Through this reform, the YPHiD Project Team will support the delivery of culturally safe, trauma-informed, and person-centred health services that improve health outcomes for young people in detention.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Administrative Officer to support the Correctional Primary Health Service (CPHS) Reform Program, as part of Statewide Mental Health Services.

In this role, you will provide high-level administrative support to the CPHS project team and nursing staff as they plan, develop, and implement recommendations arising from the Commission of Inquiry findings. You will play a key role in supporting health reform initiatives and operations across current and future youth custodial settings.

Note that this position is located in Hobart.

Details of appointment

Fixed term part time, day worker position, working 44 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for approximately 12 months

*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

$76,849 to $82,996 per annum pro rata. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
