About The Role

\n

As the Senior Finance Business Partner, you will play a key role in supporting the financial performance and long-term sustainability of the Victorian Government Solicitor's Office (VGSO). Acting as a trusted adviser to senior leaders, you will provide strategic financial advice, analysis and insights that support informed decision-making and organisational success.

\n

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Finance Business Partnering and Planning, you will partner closely with leaders across VGSO to understand business priorities, provide practical financial advice and deliver solutions that support organisational objectives. You will lead budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities, provide meaningful performance analysis, and contribute to sustainable financial outcomes across the organisation.

You will provide insights across client and revenue performance, utilisation, pricing, workforce planning and operational efficiency, helping leaders understand key financial drivers, identify opportunities for improvement and make informed decisions. Your ability to build trusted relationships, influence stakeholders and translate complex financial information into clear, actionable insights will be critical to your success.

\n

You Will

• Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, support strategic decision-making.
\n
• Provide insights and analysis across client and revenue performance, utilisation, pricing workforce planning and operational performance.
\n
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities.
\n
• Develop business cases, financial models and scenario analysis to support key initiatives.
\n
• Identify trends, risks and opportunities to improve organisational performance.
\n
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve commercial acumen, financial reporting, insights, systems and processes.
\n

Skills And Experience

\n

\n
• Demonstrated experience in finance business partnering, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and analysis.
\n
• Strong commercial acumen and the ability to translate complex financial information into practical business insights and recommendations.
\n
• Highly developed stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and influence decision-making at all levels.
\n
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving capability, including experience identifying trends, risks and opportunities to improve performance.
\n
• Experience developing business cases, financial models and scenario analysis to support strategic initiatives and organisational objectives.
\n
• Proven ability to lead or contribute to process improvement initiatives that enhance financial reporting, business performance and operational efficiency.
\n
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex financial information clearly to a range of audiences.
\n
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI and financial systems.
\n
• Tertiary qualifications in finance, accounting or a related discipline, together with a CA or CPA qualification.
\n
• Experience gained within a professional services and/or government environment will be highly regarded.
\n
