About Our School

As the only co-educational Catholic secondary college on the scenic Redlands Coast (Quandamooka Country), Carmel College provides education for approximately1150 students from Years 7 to 12. Established in 1993, the College has a strong tradition of encouraging students to \"Let their light shine\" in and for the community through a Marist and Carmelite charism. Join Carmel College in 2027 as Learning & Teacher Leader (Religious Education) and drive the school’s mission by leading learning and teaching at a strategic level. Develop curriculum aligned with national, state, and local standards; implement effective pedagogies; supervise teaching and learning quality; use data to inform decisions; build partnerships; and manage resources responsibly.

About The Opportunity

This is a continuing teaching appointment, with an initial appointment into the Middle Leader position including Middle Leader Allowance, concluding at the end of the current triennium (December 2029). Two subsequent three-year appointments with the Middle Leader Allowance can be offered subject to satisfactory performance in the position and the ongoing existence of the position.

In This Position You Will Be Responsible For

• Leading the overall curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation across the school under the direction of Senior Leadership


• Applying contemporary learning and teaching research to classroom practice through whole-school professional development and targeted support for teacher improvement


• Collaborating with Curriculum Leaders, teaching staff, and Senior Leadership to review curriculum frameworks and plan future directions


• Leading teacher performance through professional dialogue, reflective practice, and formal/informal goal setting and appraisal


• Staying current with curriculum and pedagogy developments and guiding whole-school professional learning accordingly


• Providing induction and mentoring for beginning teachers in collaboration with Senior Leadership and Curriculum Leaders


• Supervising student learning across the school using internal and external data, and implementing strategic interventions


• Contributing to school leadership through active participation in staff and middle leadership meetings


• Managing financial and material resources within the curriculum area, including budget planning and expenditure

About You

To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:

• Developed work programs in alignment with national, state, and local requirements.


• Driving the assessment and moderation process when developing new programs.


• Leading and innovating within a specified curriculum area.


• Stakeholder engagement fostering collaboration and transparency.


• Having responsibility for a financial budget.
