Labelmakers Group is one of the foremost awarded manufacturers of innovative flexible packaging products and packaging solutions to the fast-moving consumer goods sector, mostly large multinationals in the general food and beverage markets. The Company is a private multisite business in Australia and New Zealand, employing well over 650 people, with the primary focus in manufacturing pressure sensitive labels.

About the opportunity:

We are now looking for a Finishing Supervisor to join our team in Somerton, Victoria.

Reporting to the Production Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with company Safety, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and Environmental policies while driving operational excellence across the finishing department.

Working closely with the Quality, Supply Chain, and Rollfed Production teams, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality products, maximising productivity, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach, and develop the Finishing team to achieve safety, quality, and production targets.
  • Ensure compliance with all workplace health and safety, GMP, and environmental requirements.
  • Monitor and improve machine efficiencies and daily output.
  • Drive waste reduction initiatives through measurement, analysis, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Monitor downtime and implement strategies to improve equipment performance and production output.
  • Manage and control departmental costs, including paper, ink, tooling, and consumables.
  • Work collaboratively with Quality and Supply Chain teams to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Investigate and implement corrective actions to reduce internal and external DMRs (Defective Material Reports).
  • Support and implement company policies and procedures, including performance management and disciplinary processes where required.
  • Promote a positive team culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous team leader or supervisory experience within a manufacturing, printing, packaging, or production environment.
  • Strong understanding of safety, quality, and environmental systems.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and drive performance improvements.
  • Experience analysing production metrics and implementing corrective actions.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • A continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Experience with GMP environments or regulated manufacturing industries is desirable.
