Allygroup is seeking a lawyer to join a federal government team responsible for reviewing and resolving complex administrative and employment-related matters. This opportunity is available for immediate commencement.
This is a unique opportunity to undertake independent review work in a highly professional environment, contributing to fair and transparent decision‑making processes. The role offers interesting casework, significant autonomy, and the opportunity to apply strong analytical and legal writing skills to matters of importance.
Candidates must hold a minimum of a Baseline security clearance to be considered.
The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of matters requiring detailed legal analysis, evidence assessment, and the preparation of recommendations for decision‑makers.
Your responsibilities will include:
Conducting independent reviews of applications and complaints
Analysing complex case files, evidence and supporting documentation
Identifying and clarifying issues requiring consideration
Obtaining and assessing additional information where necessary
Preparing high‑quality correspondence, reports, findings and recommendations
Drafting briefing material and advice for senior stakeholders
Managing multiple matters concurrently while meeting established timeframes
Maintaining accurate records and case management documentation
Participating in case discussions and knowledge‑sharing activities
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
A law degree and eligibility to practise in Australia
Strong legal research, analytical and problem‑solving skills
Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to draft clear and concise documents
Experience interpreting and applying legislation, policy and administrative frameworks
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
High levels of integrity, professionalism and discretion
The following experience will be highly regarded:
Previous experience working within the Australian Government
Experience in administrative law, investigations, complaints handling, review processes, employment law, workplace matters, or statutory decision‑making
Experience preparing plain‑English written advice and correspondence
