We are in search of passionate qualified teachers who are eager to embrace the unique journey of learning, living, and contributing to the vibrant Catholic school communities nestled within the stunning Kimberley region of Western Australia – teaching at your choice of 13 unique school destinations. Schools in the desert are small with students significantly behind standard curriculum due to disadvantage and requiring foundations learning regardless of age.

Therefore CEWA's greatest need is forEarly Childhood and Primary teachers for foundations-focused classroom positions, and Secondary teachers happy to take the role of Specialist Subject teacher for the school covering 3-4 subjects across all ages with their pick of subjects: Physical Education, Art, Science, Music, Home Economics, Theatre Arts or Design Technology (Metal, Plastic, Wood work) - note thattypical Early, Primary and Secondary single-subject teacher positions do arise at one location only: Broome (town) the only site large enough (K-12 campus) to warrant standard teacher positions.

Successful applicants require a university degree (or equivalent) in Education, a sound understanding of planning curriculum in a school environment, an Australian teacher registration, and availability to work either:long termcontracts of 12 months (or longer) / or short term relief contracts by school term (short notice opportunities). • Relocation travel from any major Australian city including flights, goods transportation and vehicle transportation paid by CEWA
\n
• Housing provided by CEWA at capped low percentage of salary orcompletely free (depending on which school destination)
\n
• Location allowance paid per fortnight
\n
• Regional annual bonus (pro rata for teachers working term by term)
\n
• Air conditioning reimbursement paid per fortnight
\n
• Electricity cover for higher than average costs paid by CEWA

• Christmas break flights back to Perth or equivalent *applicable after 12 months of service

• 2 x mid-year break chartered plane flights to Kununurra or Broome annually for teacher teams working in remote desert locations: Balgo, Billiluna, Mulan, Ringer Soak

• Small class sizes, approx 10 - 15 students on average *applicable to all community school locations - not applicable to town locations Broome, Kununurra, Derby and Wyndham

• Teaching Assistant assigned to every class (for all Year groups including highschool) *applicable to all community school locations - not applicable to town locations Broome, Kununurra, Derby and Wyndham

• Accelerated long service leave accrual at twice the standard rate * applicable to all locations except Broome town

Remuneration

• $91,449 - $136,563 per annum base salary + Superannuation 12%

• Plus Location allowance $3,534 - $10,786 per annum

Essential Requirements:

\n

\n
• University degreein Educationor equivalent: either Early Childhood, Primary or Specialist Subjects
\n
• Australian Teacher Registration- please conduct this process online via: TRBWA - note: candidates with teacher registration in a different Australian State (other than WA) may apply stating their NT, QLD, SA, NSW, VIC or TAS registration details, should you be successful in securing a position CEWA will guide you on how to register for mutual recognition with the TRBWA.
\n
• Sound understanding of planning curriculum in a school setting either via worked experience or via university practicum. Note: early learning centre (non school) experience is not sufficient to qualify for this program - early childhood teachers must be capable of planning school curriculum for students aged from 3 years (Kindergarten) up to 8 years (Year 2)
\n
• Be currently living inAustralia or New Zealand - in 2026 and 2027 CEWA is assessing candidates already based anywhere in Australia or NZ. Should there be a shortage of candidates in these countries, candidates further afield will be considered however this is not required at present.
\n
• Work rights in Australia, either permanent / or temporary with at least 9 months or longer remaining: when a vacancy arises schools require teachers who can commence work immediately - this means applicants must either be an Australian Citizen/Permanent Resident or have temporary work rights on a short term visa with at least 9 months remaining before expiry (at the time of application). Only Early Childhood or Primary Teachers are considered for sponsorship, Secondary / Specialist Subject teachers are not eligible for sponsorship. Should an international candidate be hired, first they must commence work on a short term contract, then if performing well in the role and enjoying the outback lifestyle, then the school may sponsor the teacher with a view to permanent residency long term - note that the visa application process can take many months to complete through the Department of Home Affairs and therefore applicants need plenty of time remaining on their visa to cover the government processing period. For sponsorship candidates, CEWA will support candidates through the visa process and will cover the essential costs including immigration lawyer fees and base charges. Note: only schools in the more remote East Kimberley region will consider sponsorship, schools in the more populated West Kimberley area are not currently sponsoring due to having enough Australian applicants available at this time.
