One of our Federal Government Clients is seeking to engage a Senior Cloud Architect / Cloud Engineer (Azure) - EL1

\n

• Contract Duration: 03 Years (12 Months initially + 24 Months extension)
\n
• Work Location: Canberra (Hybrid Working available)
\n
• Eligibility: You must need to have Baseline Security Clearance or above (Citizen can be consider for the role)
\n
• Tentative Start Date: 19th Oct 2026
\n
• Working Hours: 8 hours a day/ 40 hours a week
\n

\n

Key duties and responsibilities

\n

Cloud Engineers and/or Architects will be required to:

\n

\n
• Develop enterprise level cloud platform architectures for MS Azure and M365;
\n
• Develop high level solution architectures for cloud-based systems;
\n
• Develop detailed architecture guidance for cloud engineers;
\n
• Provide impact analysis of user/stakeholder requirements;
\n
• Ensure that the enterprise and system solutions maintain adherence to whole-of-government standards;
\n
• Provide technical guidance and input into the design and build of cloud-based systems;
\n
• Liaise with a cross-functional teams including business owners, scrum masters, business analysts, developers, enterprise architects & testers to produce solutions in accordance with stakeholder requirements and project objectives;
\n
• Liaise with the department's Service Experience team to ensure architectural decisions incorporate user experience considerations
\n
• Liaise with ICT Engagement and Enterprise Architecture to ensure alignment to target architectures and technology.
\n
• Provide expertise and assistance in platform automation – testing, continuous integration and deployment
\n
• Promote key enterprise architecture principles as applicable to cloud platforms – re-use before buy/build, configure over customise, open data/access over siloed functionality
\n
• Promote and provide assistance to ensure solutions align with the DTA's Digital Service Standard
\n
• Be strategic, a leader and influencer.
\n
• Undertake additional duties as required.
\n

\n

Essential criteria

\n

Demonstrated experience 5 Years+ implementing and managing cloud systems and technologies.

\n

Demonstrated experience in cloud-based solution implementation with technologies including:

\n

\n
• Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure Logic Apps, Azure SQL, Azure Service Bus and Azure API Management
\n
• Azure DevOps for code development, management, repositories, Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD deployments
\n
• Microsoft Entra ID, Azure Key Vault, Azure Monitor and Application Insights
\n
• Integrating cloud-based systems with third-party systems, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM
\n
• Azure networking, security and identity management capabilities including Virtual Networks, Private Endpoints and Role Based Access Control
\n

\n

The Cloud Architect/Engineer will

\n

\n
• Liaise with cross-functional teams to develop and manage enterprise and application-level architectures for MS-Azure.
\n
• Provide impact analysis and technical guidance in design and development of project work aligned with WoG Standards
\n

\n

Desirable criteria

\n

\n
• Demonstrated track record of technical leadership across project and operational tasks
\n
• Demonstrated experience and understanding of cloud-based technologies and architectures
\n
• Demonstrated experience in application and integration, or infrastructure platform architecture.
\n
• Minimum 3 years' experience designing and documenting architectures for large, complex enterprise systems.
\n
• Experience with AWS and/or GCP is desirable but not essential
