About the Role

Older Adult Mental Health offers specialised treatment, care and support to older individuals with intricate and compounded mental health requirements, typically associated with the aging process. The focus of the position is to provide evidence-based neuropsychological services to consumers who are experiencing disturbances in memory, thinking, and behaviour associated either with their primary mental health disorder (e.g. schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, personality disorder, depression, anxiety or Bipolar Affective Disorder) and/or co-existing neurodegenerative condition (such as Alzheimer's Disease, Vascular Dementia and Fronto-temporal dementia). The position also provides support to family and carers for managing behaviours of concern.

As a dedicated Neuropsychologist in the field of Older Adult Mental Health, you understand the importance of delivering quality care and go above and beyond to ensure the well-being of your patients.

To thrive in this role, you must have a proven track record of success. Your expertise encompasses conducting comprehensive psychometric assessments and producing insightful reports as well as providing input into Behaviours of Concern. Collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams in mental health services is second nature to you. Additionally, you actively engage in quality processes for continuous improvement and eagerly participate in research initiatives. Excellent communication skills are essential and your ability to articulate ideas effectively, both in writing and verbally, sets you apart. As an active listener, you skilfully navigate conversations and possess exceptional negotiation and influencing abilities that will be instrumental in your interactions with patients, as well as internal and external stakeholders.

What you will need:

Hold current general registration as a psychologist and endorsement in Neuropsychology through AHPRA

Hold supervisor endorsement with the Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA) for Higher Degree programs and Registrar Supervision (primary and secondary) or working towards same

Working with Children’s Check and Police Check
