Finance Director

Introduction:

We are seeking an experienced and practical Finance Director to join MST Global in Brisbane.

This is MST’s most senior finance role and forms part of our Executive Management Team. Reporting to the Senior Vice President - Underground, you will lead our Finance, Supply Chain and Business Systems functions across a lean global business.

This is a hands‑on leadership role suited to a senior finance professional who enjoys working close to the business, improving systems and processes, strengthening financial discipline, and providing practical commercial advice to support decision‑making.

You will be responsible for leading financial control, reporting, compliance, budgeting, forecasting, working capital, procurement governance, supply chain oversight and ERP‑enabled business process improvement.

This role would suit an experienced Financial Controller, Head of Finance, Finance Director or senior commercial finance leader who is ready to take ownership of a broad finance function within a global technology business backed by Komatsu.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as MST’s senior finance leader and an active member of the Executive Management Team.
• Provide trusted financial, commercial and operational advice to the SVP, Executive Management Team and business leaders.
• Lead MST’s Finance, Supply Chain and Business Systems functions, ensuring clear accountability, strong governance and practical business support.
• Oversee month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements.
• Maintain robust internal controls, statutory compliance, audit discipline, tax compliance and financial governance.
• Lead annual budgeting, rolling forecasting, variance analysis and performance reporting.
• Provide practical insight on margin, cost, cash flow, working capital, investment priorities, bids, pricing and commercial decisions.
• Support disciplined working capital management across accounts receivable, inventory, procurement and supply chain planning.
• Provide senior oversight of the Supply Chain function through the direct leadership of the Supply Chain Manager.
• Ensure appropriate governance over procurement, supplier management, logistics, inventory management, supply planning and manufacturing planning.
• Lead finance and business systems improvement through SAP, ERP, BI and reporting process improvements.
• Provide governance over master data processes supporting finance and supply chain operations.
• Lead, coach and develop a multi‑disciplinary team across Finance, Supply Chain, Group Reporting, Business Systems and regional finance operations.
• Build strong relationships with executive, regional, operational and cross‑functional stakeholders.

About You

You are a commercially minded and hands‑on finance leader who can balance strong governance with practical business support. You are comfortable working in a lean business environment where you will operate at both strategic and operational levels.

You enjoy improving processes, strengthening controls, working with systems and helping business leaders make informed decisions.

You will Bring

• A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business or a related field.
• CPA / CA or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
• Approximately 8-10+ years’ progressive accounting or financial management experience.
• Experience in a Financial Controller, Head of Finance, Finance Director, senior commercial finance or equivalent leadership role.
• Strong financial control, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash‑flow and working capital management experience.
• Demonstrated ability to lead small to medium‑size finance teams in a practical, hands‑on environment.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP / IFRS, statutory reporting, tax compliance, audit practices and internal controls.
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP, and confidence using reporting, BI and Excel‑based tools to improve business insight.
• Exposure to procurement, inventory, supply chain, S&OP, manufacturing planning or working capital improvement would be highly regarded.
• Experience working across regional or global business structures would be advantageous.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate financial information into clear, practical business insight.
• High integrity, sound judgement and a continuous improvement mindset.
