ActewAGL is looking for an experienced and commercially focused Financial Controller Retail to join our Retail leadership team.

\n

Reporting to the Group Manager Commercial Services Retail, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity of financial reporting across the Retail Partnership, while providing critical financial insights that support business performance, strategic decision-making and future growth. This role combines technical accounting expertise, commercial analysis, process improvement and people leadership.

\n

This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys balancing technical rigour with business partnering and is passionate about driving continuous improvement.

What You'll Be Doing

\n

As Financial Controller Retail, you will:

\n

\n
• Lead the integrity and accuracy of Retail financial reporting in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards and accounting policies.
\n
• Manage month-end close activities, balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger integrity.
\n
• Deliver insightful analysis of revenue, margins and costs, identifying trends, risks and opportunities.
\n
• Prepare and manage monthly Business Performance Reporting.
\n
• Oversee year-end audit processes and support the preparation of statutory financial reporting.
\n
• Provide technical accounting advice on strategic initiatives, products and business decisions.
\n
• Partner with stakeholders across Retail Finance, Planning & Analysis, Billing, Treasury and broader business teams.
\n
• Identify and implement opportunities to streamline and automate financial processes and controls.
\n
• Support budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management activities.
\n
• Lead, mentor and develop members of the Retail Finance team.
\n

About You

\n

You are an experienced finance leader who combines strong technical accounting capability with commercial acumen and a proactive approach to problem solving.

\n

To be successful, you'll bring:

\n

\n
• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or a related discipline.
\n
• CA or CPA qualification (or equivalent).
\n
• Significant experience in a senior financial or management accounting role.
\n
• Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and technical accounting principles.
\n
• Proven experience improving financial processes while maintaining strong governance and controls.
\n
• Advanced analytical and financial modelling skills.
\n
• Strong Excel capability and experience with Oracle Financial Suite or similar ERP systems.
\n
• Experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
\n
• The ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders across a complex business environment.
\n
