Our client is a well-established medical practice group based in Ipswich and is seeking an experienced Senior Bookkeeper / Finance Officer to join their team. This is a broad finance role with responsibility for financial management, reporting, payroll and day-to-day business support across the practices.

Reporting across two practices, you will be responsible for the day-to-day financial operations while providing meaningful reporting and analysis to support business decisions.
Oversee accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing, payments, reconciliations and debt follow-up.
Process and manage payroll for administration and nursing staff.
Ensure payroll compliance with awards, employment contracts, taxation, superannuation and STP requirements.
Manage day-to-day financial operations, reconciliations and month-end processes.
Prepare budgets, cash flow forecasts and monthly financial reports.
Monitor income and expenditure, investigate variances and maintain accurate financial records.
Prepare P&L, balance sheet and cash flow reporting.
Provide financial information and insights to support business operations.
Prepare and validate doctor activity and billing reports.
Analyse performance against service agreements and session commitments.
Provide confidential reporting to support workforce, capacity and fee calculations.
Supervise, coach and support the Practice Accounts & Payroll Administrator.
Allocate workloads, review work and ensure key payroll, accounts and reporting deadlines are met.
Support staff development, recruitment and HR initiatives.
Drive process improvements across finance and administration.
Ensure compliance with taxation, superannuation, employment and privacy requirements.
Maintain finance procedures and protect confidential financial, payroll and patient information.
Provide finance and payroll support across both practices during staff absences.
We are looking for an experienced finance professional who can confidently manage both the day-to-day finance function and financial reporting.
You will ideally bring:
Proven experience in senior bookkeeping, finance or accounting.
Strong experience in month-end, reconciliations, payroll and financial reporting.
Sound knowledge of STP, superannuation, leave and award requirements.
Strong working knowledge of Xero and Excel, with excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
Excellent organisation and ability to manage competing deadlines.
Ability to work autonomously and provide practical financial insights to management.
Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach.
High level of discretion when handling confidential financial, remuneration, employee and patient information.
Previous medical practice or healthcare experience will be highly regarded, but is not essential for the right candidate.
