Keppel Dive & Water Sports is seeking experienced Dive Instructors or Dive Masters (with minimum Coxswain NC1) to join our team and live on Great Keppel Island, Queensland. This is a casual position that offers the perfect opportunity to share your passion for diving and vessel operation whilst working in one of Australia's most stunning marine environments. As a Dive Instructor or Dive Master and Coxswain, you will be responsible for leading and guiding groups of divers, ensuring their safety, and delivering unforgettable underwater experiences. This role is pivotal to our operation, as we pride ourselves on providing exceptional diving and island adventures to our guests. You will be working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where your expertise and enthusiasm directly contribute to guest satisfaction and safety.

Key responsibilities

\n

• Lead and conduct diving expeditions for guests of varying experience levels, from beginners to advanced divers
\n
• Provide comprehensive pre-dive briefings covering safety procedures, dive sites, marine life and emergency protocols
\n
• Ensure all diving equipment is properly maintained, inspected and in safe working order before each dive
\n
• Monitor guest wellbeing throughout diving activities and respond promptly to any concerns or emergencies
\n
• Conduct post-dive debriefings and provide constructive feedback to improve guest experience and diving skills
\n
• Maintain accurate dive logs and records for all participants and dives conducted
\n
• Conduct boat operations, and tours as required with Coxswains NC1 certification
\n
• Educate guests about marine conservation, local marine life and sustainable diving practices
\n
• Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations and exceptional guest experiences
\n
• Adhere to all relevant maritime, diving and health and safety regulations
\n

What we're looking for

\n

\n
• Current Dive Instructor or Dive Master PADI certification
\n
• Minimum Coxswains NC1 certification with approved hours & experience
\n
• Relevant and Current First Aid and CPR certification
\n
• Demonstrated knowledge of marine environments, and marine life behaviour
\n
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex diving concepts in an accessible manner
\n
• Excellent customer service ethos with a genuine passion for creating memorable experiences
\n
• Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in emergency situations
\n
• Physical fitness and ability to work in demanding marine conditions
\n
• Current working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain) if working with under-18s
\n
• Preferred experience with recreational diving guiding on the Great Barrier Reef or similar coral reef environments
\n
• Preferred knowledge of tropical marine ecosystems and coral conservation
\n
