About the opportunity

As part of the Infection Control team, implement the Infection Control program to achieve a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors. Provide support to the manager and cover leave as required.

• Commitment to the Mercy values.

• Ability to manage and work as part of a team.
• Knowledge and interest in issues pertaining to infection control including a sound understanding of standard 3 within the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards
• Ability to be creative, innovative and flexible when approaching issues within the healthcare setting.
• Able to take initiative in challenging situations
• Design, develop and deliver a suitable range of IPC learning activities/education and learning programmes which equip learners with relevant IPC capabilities needed to deliver safe and effective practice.
• Establish and maintain good communication with patients/clients and relatives regarding their IPC care.
• Communicate IPC action plans with healthcare staff maintaining appropriate records of work per agreed protocols.
• Implement IPC interventions working with multidisciplinary teams, using multimodal strategies, and campaigning as required.

• A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
