About our Trade skills Centre \n

Our Trade Skills Centre is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and offers a range of programs designed to prepare students for successful careers in various trades. We are committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive.

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will provide vital support to our educators and students, fostering an environment conducive to learning and development in various trade skills. Then position is available on a part time, term time basis.

\n

The role is available immediately, initially part time to become full time by latest January 2027.

Key Responsibilities \n

  • Assist teachers in preparing and organising classroom materials, ensuring that all necessary tools and resources are available for lessons and practical activities.
    • \n
  • Provide individualized attention to students, helping them understand lesson content, complete assignments, and develop their practical skills in various trades.
    • \n
  • Monitor and supervise students during class activities, breaks, and off-site excursions to ensure their safety and adherence to college policies.
    • \n
  • Maintain and manage the inventory of tools, equipment, and materials used in the Trade Skills Centre, ensuring they are in good working condition and available when needed.
    • \n
  • Assist with administrative duties such as record-keeping, attendance tracking, and the preparation of reports and documents as required by teachers and the administration.
    • \n
  • Facilitate effective communication between teachers, students, relaying important information and addressing any concerns or issues that may arise.
    • \n

Qualifications, Skills and Experience \n

    \n
  • A relevant qualification in trade or vocational training is preferred.
    • \n
  • Previous experience working in a school or vocational training environment is an asset.
    • \n
  • Proficiency in the use of various tools and equipment related to trade skills, as well as basic computer skills for administrative tasks.
    • \n
  • Experience working in a trade workshop such as in a TAFE or other school workshops
    • \n
  • Working with building materials including timber and steel is preferred.
    • \n
  • Sound verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with students, teachers, and parents.
    • \n
  • Strong organizational abilities to manage resources, time, and tasks efficiently.
    • \n
  • A patient and empathetic approach to working with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
    • \n
  • The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute positively to the school community.
    • \n

Working Conditions \n

The Teacher Assistant position at the Trade Skills Centre involves working in a dynamic and hands-on learning environment. The role may require standing for extended periods, lifting and moving equipment, and working with potentially hazardous materials and tools. Safety protocols and training will be provided to ensure a secure working environment for all staff and students.
