About the role

This position would be an opportunity for a trainee or a Nephrologist to work as part of a large clinical, research and academic team and take on the responsibility of the care of patients on clinical trials.

The applicant would be exposed to a range of research activities including phase I to large phase III national and international clinical trials. You would be expected to work in an autonomous fashion but will be fully supported by clinical research and Renal staff. You will gain experience in numerous areas of clinical research including day to day management of patients, adverse event reporting, good clinical practice, protocol development, ethics submissions.

• Provide day to day clinical management of patients on clinical trials and other renal patients
• Undertake clinical research projects and write papers with the research opportunities available.
• Attend Unit meetings, Clinical Research meetings and Multidisciplinary meetings at the Sunshine campus.

Duties

The role of the Nephrology Research Registrar is to be part of a large clinical, research and academic team based at Sunshine Renal Services. The Registrar will take on the responsibility of the care of patients on clinical trials and will be exposed to range of research activities including phase I to large phase III national and international clinical trials.

The Registrar may attend Renal clinics with the support of the Nephrologist team. These clinics are located at Sunshine Hospital. There will be opportunities for writing papers, involvement in projects and participation in national and international conferences. The Registrar will work in an autonomous fashion while fully supported by clinical research and Renal staff. The Fellow may participate in after-hours roster covering calls from the wards in the evenings and overnight and conducting weekend ward rounds.

The candidate will gain experience in numerous areas of clinical research including day to day management of patients, adverse event reporting, good clinical practice, protocol development and ethics submissions. He/She will be given various opportunities to do clinical research projects and writing papers with the research opportunities available.

• A medical qualification recognised in Victoria, Australia
• Current medical registration
• Clinical competence as required for level of position
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Commitment to professional development
• Third year Medical Trainee or Junior Consultant
• Good communication skills
• Interest in clinical trials
