Youth Employment Mentor

As a Youth Employment Mentor, you will work as an integral member of the Youth Employment Team, IEA division working alongside young adults with a disability, injury or a health condition to achieve their employment goals. You will value experiential learning, professional development and leading strength-based initiatives creating sustainable employment outcomes for young adults. You will enjoy working collaboratively with a broad network of internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

Undertake assigned tasks to engage young adults to work towards their employment goals

Build customised employment opportunities inline with the interests of the young adults we work alongside

Facilitate small team projects and one-to-one sessions to build employability, communication skills and job ready skills

Reverse market young adults to prospect employers with a strength based approach

Work with young adults to safely explore opportunities to expand the likelihood of participation and inclusion in their community and the workforce

Maintain documentation to provide accurate information and reports to meet program requirements including progress reports, quarterly reports and case notes for each young adult you work alongside

Assist in the implementation of career plans led by young adults

Relate positively with each young adult and their family

Lead and Facilitate one to one sessions for young adults

Lead and Coordinate a caseload of young adults on their life and career journey

About you

Excellent communication skills and understand the importance of knowing how to best connect with a diverse range of people in fostering positive and effective relationships

Demonstrate a genuine passion to work alongside a professional team engaging with young adults and other key stakeholders to create customised and sustainable employment outcomes

Have strong time management skills, feel confident managing your calendar to best engage with Young adults and to work autonomously

Have a desire to seek and participate in professional development to continually learn and grow

Be open to provide services through varying delivery methods ranging from face to face, via digital technology, in workplaces, community settings and at young adult homes

Effective collaboration and conflict resolution capabilities

Holds a Full Drivers License and has access to a reliable vehicle

Demonstrate competent use of Microsoft suite and willingness to use multiple web-based platforms and care/CRM systems

Adhere to Inclusive Employment Australia (IEA) compliance standards and reporting protocols

Aligning values with Connecting Futures Employment mission, values and code of conduct

Connecting Futures Employment is a Youth Employment Specialist based in the Bendigo & Goulburn Valley region Employment Service Area. Connecting Futures Employment is an Inclusive Employment Australia (IEA) Youth Specific (15 - 25 years) provider across both Employment service areas with offices in Bendigo, Castlemaine, Maryborough, Echuca, Shepparton.
